ELIGIBILITY
- The project must be built in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio or Wisconsin.
- The project must be or will be completed between Sept. 1, 2009 and Aug. 31, 2010.
- A project with a safety-related fatality, regardless of contractor or trade, is not eligible.
- A project may be entered in only one category but there is no limit to the number of projects allowed per submitting company. We reserve the right to change project categories if it is to the benefit of the submitter. Incomplete submission may be disqualified at the editor's or jury's discretion. All entries become the property of McGraw-Hill Construction. Submission materials will not be returned.
- There is no entry fee.

JUDGING CRITERIA
Projects will be reviewed by a panel of judges who will award projects based on the following criteria:
- Overcoming Challenges & Teamwork
- Safety
- Innovation & Contribution to the Industry/Community
- Construction Quality & Craftsmanship
- Function and Aesthetic Quality of the Design

- Architectural Design
- Cultural (theaters, museums, cultural centers, libraries/archives)
- Civil/Public Works (water/wastewater, treatment plants, drainage, heavy concrete projects)
- Engineering Design
- Environmental/Flood Control (remediation projects, environmental cleanup, dams, infrastructure/site development)
- Government/Public Building (military bases, courthouses, judicial centers, law enforcement, state buildings)
- Green Building (certified/seeking certification/registration with a third-party green building entity)
- Healthcare (hospitals, nursing homes and other medical facilities)
- Higher Education/Research (university, dormitories or laboratories)
- Industrial (warehouses, manufacturing plants, refineries)
- Interior Design/Tenant Improvement
- K-12 Education
- Landscape/Urban Planning (infill/brownfield redevelopment)
- Office
- Renovation/Restoration
- Multi-Family Residential/Hospitality (excludes single-family residences)
- Retail
- Small Project (under $10 million)
- Specialty Contracting (mechanical, electrical, steel, masonry, large concrete, roofing projects)
- Sports/Recreation (stadiums, arenas)
- Transportation (airports, mass transit, highways, bridges)
- Worship (churches, temples and other religious structures)
*Note: The 'Safety' and 'Construction Quality & Craftsmanship' judging criteria questions are not required for the 'Architectural Design' and 'Engineering Design' categories. |

PHOTOGRAPHS
Submit at least 5 to a maximum of 10 representative copyright-released photographs in high-resolution digital images (a minimum of 300 dpi at 4" x 6" or larger is preferred). Photos can be in JPEG or TIFF format. Two additional supplementary items are allowed (e.g. floor plan, testimonial letter). Photos must be renamed as 01.jpg, 02.jpg, ... 10.jpg, etc. Please number the best photo to represent the project as the first photo. Photos must not include any text or framing. Please provide the photographer's name for each of the photographs in one word document. The applicant must obtain the rights from the photographer to reprint the photographs without limitations. Possessing a physical photograph is not sufficient. Photographers normally retain the copyright to their work so applicants should ensure they have permission to copy and send photos to McGraw-Hill Construction for use without limitations. Any liability for copyright violations shall be borne solely by the applicant.
NOTE: Before and after photos are required for the Renovation/Restoration category. |

PROJECT TEAM LIST
Submit the entire project team list. List can be in PDF, Excel or Word document format. If possible, please include the following for each of the team members: Name of Firm, Contact Name & Title, Address, Phone, Fax, Email and Firm's Role on Project. The team members should include all key players and major subcontractors. Key Players such as the Developer/Owner, General Contractor, Construction Management Firm, Architect, Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer and MEP Engineer will be requested on the Entry Form. |

BEST OF THE BEST 2010 AWARDS
Top category winning projects will automatically be entered into the Best of the Best 2010 Awards and will be judged against the winners from all regions. The winners of the Best of the Best 2010 Awards will be profiled in a national supplement that will run in Engineering News-Record, reaching over 150,000 design and construction professionals. |

TO ENTER
- Complete the Project Registration form on the top right side of this page no less than one week prior to the deadline. One project per registration. Each project will receive a unique ID# and FTP link. This will be emailed to you within 24 hours on a business day. If not, please contact Richard Mui at Richard_Mui@McGraw-Hill.com. You will need the ID# and FTP link for the entry form.
- Complete the Online Entry Form by clicking on START FORM below. It is highly recommended that you have all your information and answers ready in a word document as back-up before you start completing the form online. You may click here for a worksheet. If you have Adobe Acrobat Professional, you may click here for a PDF version of the Entry Form (for PC only). After you submit the Online Entry Form, you should receive an email receipt of your submission. If not, please contact Richard Mui at Richard_Mui@McGraw-Hill.com.
- Use the FTP link to upload your photographs and project team list. All photographs and project team list must be uploaded onto the FTP link by the deadline. If you plan on mailing a CD/DVD with the photographs and project team list, it must be received 2 days before the deadline for processing. This will not be returned. The mailing address to send your CD/DVD is:
